It is amazing what you can get accomplished when you don’t go anywhere on the weekend. This weekend we started a new project. Are you sensing a trend in our house?
We didn’t go into the weekend with the intention of starting a new project, but on Saturday, after spending some time at the gym, picking up a latte and working in the yard, we got the itch to make some improvements other than the normal lawn mow and trim. So we decided to spruce up the area at the top of the driveway between the fence and our shed.
And now how about a little inspiration?
The goal is to level out the area between the fence and the shed and put in a flower bed, lined with wood, that wraps from the front of the shed, around the side and around the back all wood fence. We’ll then lay pavers and complete the area with a fire pit and some furniture. Because the area can be seen from the road, our furniture will have to be easily moveable and storable. After some neighborhood thieves stole our Christmas wreath this year, we don’t want to take any chances on the furniture or fire pit.
I am also hoping to get some living succulent art onto the shed wall to help create an outdoor room, not just a patio. To start this project, Matthew and I spend several hours clearing the rocks and prepping the ground for the beds. There is still work to do to prep the ground, but I think we got a pretty good start on Saturday.
This week we are hoping to get the area for the beds ready to build up the space this weekend.
Other projects completed this weekend? I finally got my fourth drawer for my desk built and they have all been painted. I added a second and third coat to the drawers today and tomorrow I’ll put a coat of polyurethane on the whole desk. After drying for 24 hours, I’m hoping the desk will be ready to move back into the office on Wednesday.
At the end of the day, we were both exhausted. We took showers, ran a couple of errands, and found the Easter candy isle at Target. A good Saturday, I think.
