Dining Room Progress

So you’ve seen the new photos of the living room already and in them you might have seen what our dining room looks like right now also. But to refresh your memory, this is what we started with (looking through the living room you can see a bit):

Living Room Plate Wall

And then we started thinking about what we could do in there and decided on something like this:

Dining Room TwoAnd then we got to work painting the walls and fixing the baseboards. For anyone interested, we used Benjamin Moore’s Chelsea Gray on the walls and Benjamin Moore’s White Dove in the Advance paint for the baseboards and trim.

We aren’t quite finished. I go back and forth in my mind about whether to paint the chairs or leave them as is. What would you do?

We also haven’t purchased a rug for the dining room. The one we are using in there right now was left here by the previous owner. For now it is fine but we definitely want something pretty in there and more like our inspiration board above.

I’d also really love a great, big piece of art to go on that large, blank wall – something that really makes a statement since you see it right when you walk in the front door.

And lastly, the mini blinds need to be replaced with the blinds we used in the living room. So just a few more items on our to do list for our dining room that we are slowly working through. What do you think of the progress?

  1. OK, a few suggestions. Instead of painting the chairs (they look in excellent shape) why not recover them in a beautiful fresh fabric! And yes, the rug has to go…something pretty and definitely “Haley and Matthew” would look great! There are so many beautiful rugs out there! I have found beautiful ones at 2nd hand stores or Home Depot or Bed Bath and Beyond or Lowes. I find Pier 1 to be quite expensive! And why not try your hand at painting a big pic for your wall? Or I’ve had experience with stenciling on walls…so fun, so easy and looks great! Gary and I are in the process of buying a small condo in Durango. It’s very basic right now and needs cosmetic surgery! Can’t wait to get my hands on it and make it our own! Closing set for July 31. Matthew, so sorry that we missed you this year! (Again!) We’ve been in transition for some time now so it just wasn’t going to work out! Hope this finds you both well, busy and happy! Love you, Auntie Jo

  2. PS Maybe add window scarves that puddle on the floor…something that coordinates with the rugs (LR and DR) and the upholstery on the DR chairs? Pretty!

  3. Love it, Haley! As usual, everything you touch turns to loveliness! I like the rug on your inspiration board a lot–that’ll look beautiful. Btw, I am in a hotel right now in San Diego that you would just LOVE (I think you saw my Instagram photos). The lobby is one of the most beautiful rooms I’ve ever seen.
