Guest Bathroom Progress

If you remember, this is where we left off on the guest bathroom:

Before

One day it was storming in San Antonio so Matthew and I decided to build some shelves in the little closet. Because the closet is so shallow, we brought the shelf to the front of the door trim and finished it off with a small trim piece to make it look thicker and more substantial.

Bada-bing-bada-boom. Afternoon project complete.

I perused Pinterest, looked at some of my favorite design blogs, etc. until I came up with this as I showed you a few weeks ago.

And here is how the bathroom looks right now. There is still work to do and some style to add to those shelves, but it’s progress, and around here, that’s all we can really hope for. If you are looking for paint colors, they are both by Benjamin Moore. The walls are White Dove and the shelves and trim at Rockport Gray.

Matthew and I picked up these two paintings at a local antique shop for thirty bucks. I thought about reframing them…but I kind of love the weathered and beat up look. The paintings aren’t in perfect condition either, but we’re calling that character. Progress_6 copy Progress_5 copy Progress_4 copy Progress_1 copy Progress_3 copyWe’ve still have many items on our to-do list, but for now, we’re thankful a little paint can go a long way in changing the look and feel of a room. Here’s a run down on some of the items on our list that will have to wait until 2014.

  • Replace Vanity
  • Paint the back of the door
  • Buy and hang window treatment
  • Buy and hang new shower curtain (I plan to use two curtains)
  • Replace mirror
  • Replace fixtures
